Stitch up?
They won the title by winning the last game of the season didn’t they?

There was lots of talk of the cosy Middlesex/Lords connection being used to rescue them this season.
Which didn’t happen

Wurzels finished with a flourish, bollocks to Strauss and his cosy club, especially after last season's stich up

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
Both counties could have no complaints if they were relegated given their form over the season.
That said in this day and age you’d think they could have confirmed or otherwise the CROSSBOW penalty the day after the game finished.

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
Somerset have said if Middlesex's over rate deduction was reversed, they would take legal action, as their entire game plan in the last match, was to outscore Middlesex's then points total, by 1 point. They argue if they had needed 2 more points, they would have then got them.

Not sure any more batting points, would have been made, on that minefield of a pitch they prepared. They got maximum bowling points.

The decision said that who ever said, the over rate deduction wouldn't be enforced, didn't have the authority, to make that assurance

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
My recollection is that the game at the Oval was in mid afternoon and meandering to a draw.
The police / umpires insisted play should end for the day
Middlesex obviously were intending to up their over rate in the dead period to avoid a penalty and were assured it wouldn’t be imposed if they ended early.

Reckon they have been done a bit here but have chosen not to take it further.

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
The crossbow penalty is a joke really if it did delay the game for a reasonable amount of time. Guessing as they're accepting it though, it probably didn't!

And I hope England bat and run in the Ashes better than this Sri Lankan mob I'm currently watching.

Shambles at the moment. How the mighty have fallen with them and the Windies probably being worse than Bangladesh at the moment.

Mitchell MARSH signs as Surrey's overseas player for all of next season.
Will play in the Big Bash and then avoid the IPL so that he can play the entire county season.

I see Middlesex have accepted their CROSSBOW penalty even though they were told on the day they would not be penalised for their over rate.

Potentially not a bad signing and he'll obviously improve anyway now he isn't surrounded by failures.

Have they made a final ruling over Middlesex appealing the points deduction for being behind the over rate when being attacked by a crossbow?

Relegated coming a point behind Somerset.

A point they could have denied Somerset in the final game by declaring their 1st innings before the loss of 5 wickets.

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
relegated by a point lost 2 points at the oval for slow over rate when that twat shot a crossbow bolt into the ground so game abandoned at 2pm leaving no time to get over rate back up.

middx deserve to go down been shit all season though.

I'm pretty sure that if they'd declared 214 runs behind at 22-5 in a match they needed to win, or at least draw and get batting bonus points to stay up, they'd have been slapped with an enormous points deduction that would have ensured their relegation even if they'd somehow managed to win their game.
